Entertainment module

1st Session

During the entertainment module, we were given time to discuss the meaning of the word ‘entertainment’. Some of the answers we came up with were ‘something that entertains us when we are bored’ and ‘something fun’. We were then shown a few airline videos from different countries, such as the United States, Turkey and Singapore. The purpose was to show us the difference in how each video can explain the safety instructions while entertaining the audience. The United States airline video was plain and straight to the point, while the Turkey one was entertaining. The turkey video used LEGO people to demonstrate the proper safety rules. It was pretty funny and also got the point across to the audience. Although some may argue that the one with many antics would cause distraction to the original point, we prefer the more interesting one as we are more likely to pay attention to the video if it is appealing to us. After that, we had to create a 6-panel storyboard for an infotainment video of any topic. We chose the topic: ‘What happens when you eat too much salt!’. Our storyboard is as shown below:

Overall, it was pretty fun and also helpful in allowing us to get a feel of how to create a storyboard for our documentary later on.
